ZitSticka KILLA KIT / Microdart Pimple Patch: Review

You guys know me and how I’m all for pimple patches, as long as they work at least. While I love the classic pimple patch, I was really excited to finally try one with microdarts. Pimple patches with microdarts actually work for cystic pimples and pimples that are in their early stages of forming. Regular pimple patches work best on pimples that have already come to a head since the hydrocolloid absorbs the moisture from that one spot. Hormonal and cystic acne can be a lot more difficult to manage since it’s often deeper and takes a little while to come to a head. ZitSticka’s microdart patches can make it a little easier.

What do the microdarts do? are they painful?

I’m not going to lie and tell you that you won’t feel the microdarts at all upon application. You will feel something! But it’s not necessarily a feeling of pain or uncomfortable.

These microdarts allow ZitSticka’s patch to reach beyond the surface of your skin and target those pimples that may be forming deeper. The patch is packed with acne fighting and healing ingredients:

  • Salicylic Acid

  • Hyaluronic Acid

  • Niacinamide

  • Oligopeptide 75

Together, these ingredients soothe, reduce redness as well as reducing the size and appearance of the pimple itself. The microdarts dissolve after two hours of wearing them, so you don’t have to worry about getting lightly pricked while you sleep.

What comes in the killa kit?

ZitSticka’s KILLA KIT includes 8 individually wrapped microdart patches (KILLA) and 8 cleaning swabs (CLEANA). I have to say that this is the first set of microdart patches that I’ve seen come with cleaning swabs. I think it’s really important to clean the area before, especially if you’re applying a patch with microdarts because you don’t want anything but the patch’s ingredients going in your skin. Otherwise, you might just end up making the pimple worse.

My final thoughts:

These work great with my hormonal acne. They’re very sticky and won’t move while you sleep (as long as you apply it directly after cleansing). While sometimes it doesn’t completely get rid of that painful spot, it definitely shows lots of progress in healing it up quickly. Some pimples that I used it on looked like they needed a patch to be applied a second time, but others did go away after one application.

For someone dealing with pretty regular and constant acne flareups, I don’t think that this kit is the most realistic purchase. The kit of 8 microdart patches and 8 cleaning swabs retail for $29.00, which probably last me about a week. If your flareups are more occasional, or you get a cystic pimple every once in a while, this might be a better purchase for you since you wouldn’t run out so quickly.

I personally couldn’t justify buying another $29 kit after just a week, clearly 8 patches aren’t enough for me. I definitely wish it came in a larger quantity because it works pretty well for me. As it is, I go through my 72 count pack of Mighty Patch pimple patches (the regular hydrocolloid ones) in about 2 or 3 months and it’s about $20.
